RV CAMPER EXPERIENCE - UYUNI SALT FLATS - 3 DAYS

DAY 1

Arrive in the city of Uyuni, our base for this unique experience.

You will be met at the airport, station or anywhere of your choice by our staff, in the morning. This will be followed by an introductory briefing, after which you have the option to visit the Train Cemetery and get to know the city.

The real adventure begins now as we leave Uyuni and drive out into Bolivia's beautiful countryside, firstly passing through the Altiplano (highlands), then past a colorful market before reaching the edge of famed Salar de Uyuni, the world’s largest salt flats. Entering the Salar, we will eventually find ourselves in the middle of nowhere as we head into remote country, just in time for lunch.

The afternoon is spent exploring the stunning terrain where the endless horizon provides great photo opportunities. Get settled in your RV Camper equipped with all the amenities to make your stay comfortable, warm and safe before heading back out for some hiking, photography or even mountain biking (optional). Alternatively, simply relax with a good book and an exceptional view to remember.

After one of your most memorable sunsets, we'll spend the evening at our RV camp, relaxing under the stars (weather permitting, most of the time, it does).

DAY 2

Today, a 1.5 hour scenic drive takes us to the base of Volcan Tunupa - a beautiful and little-visited area set in the northern rim of Salar de Uyuni. Once the site of ancient peoples that pioneered Quinoa cultivation, nowadays the area is considered a place of spirituality and history, not to mention great hiking opportunities. We will break our journey this morning with a visit to a viewpoint surrounded by a sea of salt everywhere you look below, from where we embark on an easy-to-moderate hike to an archaeological site that houses a well-preserved, mummified family.

The afternoon is spent exploring the stunning terrain where salt and petrified coral caves abound amid the white desert landscapes. During the transition from the rainy season, this area offers amazing photographic opportunities thanks to the ‘mirror effect’. Upon returning to your RV Camper, opt to spend some time independently or ride a mountain bike (optional). Alternatively, simply relax with a good book and an exceptional view to remember.

After another awe-inspiring sunset, we'll spend the evening at our RV camp, relaxing under the stars (weather permitting, most of the time, it does).

DAY 3

Following breakfast, we make our way across the Salar, continuing our journey to a site known as Isla Incahuasi (some call it Isla del Pescado). The trip will take us across the seemingly endless salt plains, transitioning into peculiar hexagon-shaped formations. After around 1 hour of driving plus the usual photo stops and a break for lunch, we will hike on a rocky outcrop that rises a few meters above salt level surrounded by giant, picturesque cacti.

The trip ends in the early evening back in Uyuni where we can drop you off at the airport, station or your accommodation of choice. Although this unique RV Camper experience is over, we hope you'll be going home with a head full of memories and stories to share with your friends and family!

Entering the Salar, we will be awed by the otherworldly feeling of being in space or someplace similar, thanks to the surreal ‘mirror effect’ caused by the flooded surface of the salt plains. We keep driving at a safe speed until we get to our picnic spot, just in time for lunch.

The afternoon is spent exploring the stunning terrain where the endless horizon and the sky’s reflection provide unbelievable photo opportunities. Get settled in your RV Camper equipped with all the amenities to make your stay comfortable, warm and safe before sporting rubber boots and heading back out for some amazing photography. Alternatively, simply relax with a good book and an exceptional view to remember.

DAY 2

Today, let us take you to fascinating landmarks which may include all or some of the following: the ‘salt springs’, the ‘stairway to heaven’, the Dakar monument, Playa Blanca former salt hotel among others, after which enjoy another scenic lunch.

Upon returning to your RV Camper in the afternoon, opt to spend some time independently walking “among the clouds” while enjoying the amazing scenery. Alternatively, simply relax with a good book and an exceptional view to remember.

After another awe-inspiring sunset, we'll spend the evening at our RV camp, relaxing under the Milky Way reflected below, simply a surreal experience (weather permitting, most of the time, it does).

DAY 3

Brave the lower temperature with the help of a good, warm layer and be sure not to miss an exceptional sunrise today (weather permitting). Following breakfast, we make our way towards the edge of the Salar, continuing our journey among impressive scenery. Take your time and/or let us help you get the most amazing photos and videos on the last day of this amazing experience.

The trip ends in the afternoon in Uyuni where we can drop you off at the airport, station or your accommodation of choice. Although this unique RV Camper experience is over, we hope you'll be going home with a head full of memories and stories to share with your friends and family!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO CONSIDER

• Pricing is dependent upon party size (please advise via inquiry form)
• This experience is solely focused on visiting the famed Salar de Uyuni (Uyuni Salt Flats)
• This tour does not include the southwestern circuit known as Reserva Eduardo Avaroa
• This is an all-inclusive experience where all logistics are taken care of by us, including meals, accommodation, guiding and transportation
• Our RV Camper is American-made. It was imported into Bolivia exclusively for this purpose
• Our RV Camper is equipped with a queen-size bed that comfortably sleeps two, a restroom with warm shower, a sofa-bed that can accommodate an extra person if needed, bluetooth stereo, TV with DVD, stove, refrigerator, microwave and a furnace in the interior. Outside, you may relax under the extendable awning, or climb on the roof for better views
• While our RV Camper boasts all the amenities mentioned above, it goes without saying that it cannot be compared to a ‘hotel’ stay. We provide large towels, sheets, blankets, cutlery, and everything you need for a comfortable stay but keep in mind you’re still ‘camping’ at a very high level
• You may choose to spend as much time as you wish in our RV Camper or out, exploring the Salt Flats. Our program/itinerary is optimized to do both. However, your preferences are taken into account at the time of booking
• Our RV Camper is designed as a ‘livable’ quarters. So, if you prefer, you may choose to prepare your own meal(s) and have as much privacy as you wish. However, by default, our program does offer you the option of having everything taken care of by our staff, so that you focus only on relaxing and enjoying your time
